VTX field guide

Create a dynamic QR.
Keep the next step editable.

A dynamic URL QR opens a connected short link. You can change that link’s destination later while keeping the printed code.

Have a destination ready

Use a complete address beginning with https:// that you are happy to make public. For practice, you can use the VTX demo menu.

A dynamic code depends on a live link and service. It is editable, not a promise that the destination will remain available forever.

01 / Create

Set up the URL and its link

  1. Open Create QR code. Choose URL as the QR type. On smaller screens, use the QR Type selector.
  2. Enter a Name you will recognize, then fill in the URL destination.
  3. Enable Dynamic QR code. VTX will connect the saved QR to an internal short link.
  4. If you already have a suitable link, enable Select from pre-existing links and choose it from the URL list instead.
  5. Adjust Themes, Colors or Style if you want to. Keep enough contrast and clear space around the code.

Changing the destination is different from changing the short URL.

The short URL is what your dynamic QR encodes. Keep that address and its domain stable after printing.

02 / Check

Save first. Test the exported result.

  1. Allow the preview to finish. Review any readability message or field error.
  2. Select Create to save. The app opens the saved QR for editing.
  3. Use Download and choose the format you need. The editor provides SVG, PNG, JPG and WEBP options.
  4. Scan the exported file with your phone and confirm the destination. For print, also scan a sample at the final size and on the intended material.

The preview’s readability indicator is a useful check; it does not replace testing the final file and printed sample.

03 / Update

Change where the existing code goes

  1. Open your short links and find the link connected to the QR. The saved QR’s selected URL helps identify it.
  2. Open that link’s settings. Change Destination URL.
  3. Keep Short URL and its selected domain unchanged. Keep the link enabled.
  4. Select Update, then scan your original QR again. Confirm that it reaches the new destination.

If you created a static URL QR instead, editing a link elsewhere cannot rewrite the address already encoded in the image. Create and distribute a new code for a different encoded URL.

When you need a hand

Check the cause before changing the design

The preview is still generating.

Some designs or larger amounts of content take longer to generate. Wait for the current attempt to finish; repeatedly changing settings or generating very quickly can trigger a temporary rate limit. If the page shows an error, follow that message and check the URL field.

The exported QR is difficult to scan.

Try a simpler design, stronger contrast, more clear space and a larger printed size. Reduce an oversized central logo if one is present. Export again and test with your phone before printing more copies.

It scans, but the destination is wrong or unavailable.

Open the connected short URL directly. Check its Destination URL, enabled status, expiration and access settings. Also open the final destination directly. If the short URL alias or domain changed, the original printed QR may no longer resolve correctly.

A feature is disabled or I reached a limit.

Review your account plan. Do not delete a working campaign link just to experiment: a printed QR can depend on it.
